Stephanie Oh

Community Sponsorship Coach

Stephanie has lived in Aotearoa New Zealand since 1990, with her early education in Wellington and then tertiary studies in Auckland, completing a Bachelor of Health Science with a focus on health promotion. She has worked as the Pacific Island Liaison at St Mary’s College in Wellington and was the Youth Services Team Leader at Refugees As Survivors New Zealand (RASNZ). Her most recent work was at Oranga Tamariki as a Senior Engagement Advisor for the Crown Response Unit before joining HOST in 2022.

Stephanie has participated in Outward Bound and supervised resettled youth through the Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award. Alongside a young team of youth leaders, they co-designed deliverables based on community needs such as youth forums, school holiday programmes, parent and young person evenings, weekly programmes based on physical and educational needs and mentoring and supporting recipients of the Sir Robert Jones Scholarship for girls.

Working alongside refugee communities in Auckland for six years, she values a co-design approach to community development, which often proves effective for desired grassroots outcomes.

As a Fijian-born New Zealander, Stephanie has a sense of what it means to belong in more than one place.
