Giselle Iradukunda

Community Sponsorship Coach

My name is Giselle Promise Iradukunda. I graduated from Victoria University of Wellington in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Public Policy and Political Science.

I am currently pursuing a Masters in Applied Social Work at Massey University, which is perfectly aligned with my work at HOST International Aotearoa. Subsequently, able to apply theory into practice as a Community Sponsorship Coach.

I originally hail from Rwanda. I arrived in New Zealand at the age of 10 with my family. My parents fled to Malawi due to the genocide in Rwanda. My sister and I were born in a refugee camp located in Dowa, which at the time was one of the largest camps in Africa hosting thousands of displaced people from all over the continent.

I am fortunate to be working for a diverse organisation that is making positive change and advocating for the rights of refugees all over the world.

In my spare time, I like hanging out with my family, watching movies, reading, hiking, and immersing myself in the Kiwi culture.
